Juniors

Welcome to the Juniors section of the web site. Downes Crediton Golf Club has recently been awarded Safegolf accreditation, and as such, takes the welfare of its junior members seriously.

Our junior organiser, Ken Bones, looks after the section and organises competitions for all abilities and ages in the Section which includes competing in the East Devon Junior league.

Our 2023 Captain is Liam Whittleston.

NEW TO GOLF / LOOKING FOR ACTIVITY IN THE SUMMER HOLIDAY?

We offer an opportunity to learn the game and progress.

Our PGA Professionals, Joe and Ollie, are well qualified to teach our junior golfers and do so on a Saturday afternoon. Joe has seen many beginners develop and improve into golfers that are ready to tackle the golf course and compete in competitions.

Juniors include both boys and girls and their ages range from 5 to 17 years.

Coaching sessions include work on the golf swing, slowly building to a level fit to go to the course with confidence. Chipping and putting are included as well as learning etiquette and dress code. We explain the basic rules of the game to ensure all are equipped to play the game whilst complying with the rules. Competitions are organised and the course is marked out with a short Golf Access course for beginners.

There is no strict sign up to a session, anyone who fits the age profile only has to pop down to the club on a Saturday during the summer - beginners from 2-3pm, while more experienced juniors are from 1-2pm - just "roll up" and the session will be available. Why not make it a Summer Holiday activity?

The cost is minimal (£3 per session). Parents are welcome to join the group on the course or alternatively enjoy an hour’s relaxation in the clubhouse with a coffee and sandwich.
